2020 Brand USA Video Storytelling Award Now Open for Submissions!

The 2020 Brand USA Video Storytelling contest is open to U.S. destination marketing organizations (DMOs) that use video storytelling to bring their destination to life. To participate, simply send a link to the video or video series you’d like considered to [email protected]. If your video is accepted for streaming on GoUSA TV, it will automatically be entered into the contest. Winners will be announced at U.S. Travel’s ESTO in Grand Rapids, Michigan, taking place August 22 through 25, 2020.

  • Builds interest in and affection for the featured destination
  • Has high quality cinematography and storytelling

Ultimately, the best travel entertainment videos will motivate a viewer to say: “I want to go do that thing, in that place, with those people!” Episodic series are preferred, but we will consider stand-alone videos and films. 

Judges

Clay Jeter: Director
Originally from Tennessee, Clay Jeter is a film and television director best known for the critically acclaimed Netflix series Chef’s Table. His work has been featured at the Sundance, Tribeca, Santa Barbara, Nashville, and Palm Springs film festivals. His film, Jess + Moss, shot on Super 16mm film in western Kentucky, premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, screened at the Berlinale and won the Dallas narrative competition. 

Rupert Maconick: Founder, Saville Productions
Rupert Maconick is the founder of Saville Productions, an entertainment company that has produced documentary films and TV series with high-profile filmmakers including Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), Paul Haggis (Crash), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), and Fernando Meirelles (City of God). Most recently Rupert produced the documentary 5B for Johnson & Johnson that won the 2019 Cannes Lions Entertainment Grand Prix. 

Jason Puris: Executive Producer
Jason Puris is recognized for his award-winning work in film, television, and branded content. Over the course of his career, Jason has worked with leading entertainment companies, including Radical Media and Dirty Robber. He recently produced Breaking2, an award-winning feature documentary documenting Eliud Kipchoge’s effort to break the 2-hour marathon barrier, produced in 2017 by National Geographic in partnership with Nike.

Jody Raida: Founder, Lemonade 
Jody Raida is an industry leader in brand storytelling and the founder of Lemonade, a boutique media consultancy that advises brands on premium story-driven entertainment. Prior to Lemonade, Jody was head of branded entertainment at Mcgarrybowen where she developed and produced original entertainment properties for clients including Verizon, Intel, Crayola, and United Airlines, and head of west coast television development for Condé Nast where she developed TV programming for Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ, Condé Nast Traveler, and Wired. 

Brian Newton: Head of Content Delivery, La Reyna
Brian Newton is the Head of Content Delivery at La Reyna, a joint venture between VICE Media’s agency Virtue and award-winning film director Robert Rodriguez, focusing on the LatinX market. Prior to La Reyna, Brian was vice president of digital distribution & operations at El Rey Network where he helped launch El Rey Network Studios and served as executive in charge of original series including Rebel Without a Crew: The Series and Explosion Jones.

Terms: Submissions must be accepted for use on GoUSA TV by Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Brand USA accepts content for GoUSA TV at our sole discretion and requires a nonexclusive license for at least one year. There are no submission or entry fees. Submissions are considered donations. Entrants, winners, and judges do not receive compensation.
