9th Anniversary of the Travel Promotion Act

On March 4, 2019 we celebrated the ninth anniversary of the signing of the Travel Promotion Act. Nine years ago, a broad, bipartisan coalition of travel industry advocates and legislators marked the signing of legislation to create the nation’s first public-private partnership tasked with spearheading a globally coordinated marketing effort to promote the United States as a premier travel destination and to communicate U.S. visa and entry policies.

Brand USA, the destination marketing organization for the United States, began operations in May 2011 and was designed to put the United States on a level playing field to compete globally in attracting international visitation and spend in order to fuel our nation's economy.

Brand USA has grown from a startup organization that launched its first full year of operation in 2012 with just 89 partners to an organization that has worked with and been supported by over 800 partners worldwide. We send a heartfelt thank you to our partners, supporters, and the travel industry.  Everything we have accomplished, we have accomplished together.

While it would be impossible to call out every milestone and every successful initiative, platform, or program, today we pause briefly to celebrate the powerful force in U.S. economic growth that is Brand USA:

From mobile to giant screen to everything in between, Brand USA is setting the standard for what it means to be a best-in-class destination marketing organization. With the launch of our IMAX® films and GoUSA TV, we are immersing audiences in a deeper travel story, promoting the United States like never before.

Additionally, this year we will host our first-ever Brand USA Travel Week, a game-changing business platform for U.S. suppliers to engage with key buyers from the United Kingdom and Europe. An immersive celebration of the United States and an entirely new way to showcase travel experiences throughout our 50 states, five territories, and the District of Columbia, Brand USA Travel Week will complement our partners’ strategies for connecting with the travel trade.

While we’ve had an amazing run, our best is yet to come — and we look forward to our continued partnership with you as we take our international marketing efforts to even higher levels of success together. As always, Brand USA will remain focused on adding and creating value for our partners and advancing our mission to fuel the nation’s economy through the power of travel.

Thank you for your ongoing support and Happy 9th Anniversary of the Travel Promotion Act!

Together, we are marketing the USA!
