JATA Tourism Expo 2017 in Japan Draws a Record Crowd

A total of 16 exhibitors joined in the Brand USA Pavilion at the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Tourism Expo 2017 in Japan – an event which attracted a record number of visitors this year.

The JATA expo, the largest consumer/trade show in Japan which showcases services related to the travel and tourism industry, welcomed 191,577 visitors over the three-day event, held September 21-24, 2017 at Tokyo Big Sight.

Brand USA and its U.S. partners, including Fairbanks, Hawaii, Northern Mariana Islands, and co-exhibitors from each direct marketing organization, held a travel trade and media networking event on September 22.  In partnership with the Visit USA Committee (VUSA), Brand USA received over 150 people from the travel trade and exhibitors for the event at the Brand USA Pavilion. Brand USA welcomed guests and VUSA Chairman Kei Hirowaki offered a toast for visitors.  VUSA served an American-style buffet dinner and American craft beers and wines for the attendees.

Brand USA also distributed 2,000 bags containing visitor guides to those who visited the destination marketing organization’s pavilion and played the “See How Far You Can Go” online game during consumer days on September 23-24.  Brand USA Japan, in partnership with JATA and VUSA, finalized special stage events at the pavilion.  VUSA committee members conducted 14 stage performances, including a music live performance, a quiz, presentations and a talk show – all to the sheer delight of the audience.
