Brand USA – and for the first time, Hawaiian Airlines and Hawaii Tourism Authority– hosted a MegaFam, or multi-itinerary U.S. familiarization trip, for 40 travel agents from Australia and 20 agents from New Zealand in March 2015.

The “Great Outdoors”-themed MegaFam highlighted the accessibility of the continental United States for visitors from Australia and New Zealand, when they use Honolulu as a U.S. gateway destination.

After arriving in Honolulu, the 60 agents split into five groups and followed one of five itineraries across the United States. Destinations included San Diego, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Portland and New York.

Celebrity chef Roy Yamaguchi, founder of Roy’s Restaurants, greeted the agents in Honolulu at the start of the MegaFam. The agents returned to Honolulu for the MegaFam’s grand finale, when they shared their travel experiences with each other through group presentations.
