Canadians Have More Trained Travel Agents and Airline Flights for Planning USA Trips

Brand USA is focusing on training Canadian travel professionals on the best way to market the United States to their clients – just as airlines are boosting flights to make it easier for Canadians to visit U.S. destinations.

Nearly 100 travel agents received training on promoting travel to the United States. The Summer Evening Agent Training event in Stoney Creek, ONT, on August 23 and the Brand USA End of Summer BBQ Event in Etobicoke, ONT brought together 40 agents. The Summer Lunch and Learn in Mississauga, ONT on August 28 attracted 50 agents for training.

This came at a time of increase flights from Canada to the United States.  For instance, Swoop, Canada’s first ultra-low-cost carrier, announced its entrance into the U.S. market with five international flight routes to Phoenix, Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa Bay.

Flair Airlines also announced five direct flights to vacation destinations in the United States - Miami, Orlando, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and Phoenix. Flights to Las Vegas start on November 9; the rest are scheduled to take off December 15. They are on sale, with introductory one-way fares to Las Vegas at $99, without taxes and fees.

Delta Airlines and West Jet also have agreed to a joint venture that will provide substantial reach into Canada and the U.S. with service to more than 30 cities covering over 95 per cent of U.S.-Canada travel demand. It will provide customers of both airlines with more travel choices than ever before when planning their USA trips.

Air Canada, meanwhile, has introduced new non-stop year-round flights from Edmonton to San Francisco, CA; Montreal to Baltimore, MD and Pittsburgh, PA; Vancouver to Sacramento, CA; Toronto to Omaha, NE and to Providence, RI, as a seasonal flight.
