Missouri’s Majestic Fall Coloring is One Key Focus of New Microsite

Scenic fall coloring and the best autumn festivals, eateries, and outdoor adventures are the best reasons to travel to Missouri in the fall. That’s the message visitors are getting with the Missouri Division of Tourism’s new fall microsite.

The tourism division and their agency, H&L Partners, recently launched a beautifully-designed fall microsite to entice couples and families to travel to the state during the autumn season.

“Missouri is especially beautiful during fall, and with this microsite, we want to entice people to come and experience it for themselves, in their own unique way,” says Mark Manion, H&L Partners’ senior vice president/executive creative director. "The fall microsite uses visually-appealing photography and user-generated video to highlight the many ways to enjoy fall in Missouri, while providing helpful tools to assist them with their trip planning.”

The microsite represents a shift in focus for the division, which typically targeted women and heavily emphasized family vacations. Although the microsite and marketing initiatives still target women, the division also is encouraging couples to enjoy romantic getaways.

In fact, the MRI 2015 Doublebase Study suggests that couples already have discovered the beauty of Missouri in the fall. Nearly 72 percent of all fall travelers to Missouri are couples, while families prefer summer vacations.

The fall microsite, which utilizes imagery and user-generated videos to capture the spirit of fall in Missouri, comes on the heels of the newly launched “It’s Your Show” campaign, which features user-generated content created by real groups of travelers throughout the state. The microsite houses videos created for the campaign in addition to stunning imagery to give users a well-rounded look at fall travel in the state.

Destinations include the Elms Resort and Spa, a quiet escape near bustling Kansas City, Loose Park, Weston Red Barn Farm, and Stockton Lake in Stockton State Park. Couples can take a boat out and enjoy autumn’s beauty from the water and cozy up for the evening at a campsite or in a rustic cabin.

“We’ve created a site where high design meets exceptional usability,” says Chris Kilcullen, H&L Partners’ digital director. “Recognizing the state’s fantastic fall product, we developed and curated a site that, as you browse, makes you feel as if you are flipping through a magazine.”
