Get a taste of the Golden State during 10th annual California Restaurant Month
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Dec. 19, 2019) - California invites visitors and locals alike to sip and savor their way through the state's iconic culinary scene throughout the month of January, during the 10th annual California Restaurant Month.
Over three dozen destinations are participating in California Restaurant Month this year, serving up endless opportunities for culinary adventures including immersive food experiences, prix fixe menus and special events.
“California's agricultural bounty, talented chefs and Michelin-recognized restaurants have earned the state worldwide renown,” Visit California President and CEO Caroline Beteta said. “January is the perfect time to experience this abundance firsthand, as the innovative and diverse nature of the state's culinary scene is on full display.”
During California Restaurant Month, food-lovers can enjoy everything from sustainable seafood offerings in Monterey and perfect pairings in Butte County to a mixology event in Alameda and unique kumquat-inspired dishes in Santa Monica.

EL DORADO COUNTY: Fork in the Road
January 1-31
“Fork in the Road” is a celebration of the collection of culinary gems along the highways and byways of California's Gold Country. During January, Fork in the Road will showcase El Dorado County's hidden gems and unique culinary experiences. The city is introducing guided Culinary & Culture Tours in El Dorado Hills and Historic Main Street in Placerville, enabling people to taste delicious local cuisine and meet the restaurateurs and chefs behind the dishes.
JULIAN: Sweet & Savory
January 1-31
For the first year, the small town of Julian in San Diego County, will host Sweet & Savory, providing visitors and locals the chance to taste their way through the city. Each week of the month will feature a new sweet or savory option at participating restaurants. In addition, Julian will host pairings, meet the chef and meet the roaster events. Various “dine and stay” specials will allow visitors to enjoy the mountain town and its cuisine.
OAKLAND: Oakland Restaurant Week 2020
January 9-20
California foodies are marking their calendars as Oakland Restaurant Week will be celebrating its 10th anniversary with special events and delicious menus. To celebrate the anniversary, Oakland will be offering special events such as Oakland chef cook-offs, progressive dinners in Oakland's neighborhoods, intimate chef dinners, food tours, cooking classes, farmers' markets and tours of urban gardens.
SANTA YNEZ VALLEY: Santa Ynez Valley Restaurant Weeks
January 19-31
During Santa Ynez Valley Restaurant Week, participating restaurants will offer three-course tasting menus for $20.20, excluding tax and tip. In addition to Santa Ynez Valley restaurants, many tasting rooms and wineries are also offering special wine and small bite pairings for $20.20. On top of the culinary delights, hotels will offer special pricing for overnight accommodations throughout the two weeks.
Other participating destinations include: Alameda, Berkeley, Butte County, Calistoga, Concord, Conejo Valley, Cupertino, Dana Point, Downtown Alhambra, Downtown Sacramento, El Dorado County, Elk Grove, Greater Palm Springs, Julian, Los Angeles, Mendocino County, Monterey, Napa Valley, Newport Beach, Oakland, Pasadena, Placer County, Rancho Cordova, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Maria Valley, Santa Monica, Santa Ynez Valley, SLO CAL, Sonoma, South Lake Tahoe, Stockton, Temecula Valley, Torrance, Tuolumne County, Twentynine Palms, Vacaville, and Yosemite Madera County.
