Cathleen (Cathy) Domanico is vice president, global trade development for Brand USA, the public-private partnership responsible for launching the United States' first ever nationally coordinated tourism marketing effort. In this role, Cathy manages the international offices and is responsible for creating in-market trade strategies and overseeing trade activations.
Cathy joined Brand USA in March 2016 and brought experience in marketing strategy, international sales, and event management. Since joining Brand USA, Cathy has expanded the global trade team to position Brand USA and further enhance our ability to provide our partners with the best resources and insight across our key markets.
She recently was asked to serve as an honorary director to the board of directors of International Inbound Travel Association (IITA), a national nonprofit trade association representing the U.S. inbound travel industry. IITA shares a similar mission with Brand USA to increase visitation to the U.S. by helping inbound operators facilitate such travel through partnerships with suppliers.
Prior to working with Brand USA, Cathy was vice president of tourism for Choose Chicago for eleven years where she managed domestic and international programs. Cathy was responsible for developing Choose Chicago’s strategic sales and marketing plans unique to each country. In that role, Cathy and her team also oversaw airline and tour operator destination trainings, managed trade and consumer promotions, familiarization tours, and sales missions.
Before Choose Chicago, Cathy was vice president of marketing and business development with Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago, where she was responsible for developing the marketing strategy and managing operations of all earned revenue functions at the Museum.
An Illinois native, Cathy relocated to Washington, DC and credits, “the incredible opportunity to promote the USA around the globe” as to what drew her in to join the Brand USA team.
Cathy has a Masters of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University in Communications and Journalism. She enjoys spending time with her three amazing nephews, traveling, volunteering with social services agencies involving children, and vegetable gardening.
