West Virginia: West Virginia’s slogan is “Wild and Wonderful,” which is fairly appropriate given the amount of outdoor activities you can try. Go white-water rafting in one of the state’s many rapids, or try tubing, scuba diving and much more. The New River Gorge is an excellent place to go rock climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking. Visit the scenic Appalachian Mountains and hike some of the state’s span of the Appalachian Trail.
