In late April, the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors ureau (FACVB) launched a campaign and introduced a new video entitled “This Special Place.”  The video was launched through social media as part of the bureau's National Travel & Tourism Week celebration to highlight the traits and values that are found throughout Cumberland County.

“It goes without saying that National Travel & Tourism Week was a different celebration this year,” says John Meroski, FACVB president and CEO. “We wanted to remind residents, potential visitors and the travel industry that our heritage of service, perseverance and sacrifice make this a special place. These traits are more important now than ever.” The video is one piece of a larger campaign that will gradually be introduced as travel rebounds following COVID-19.

The stirring two-minute video encompasses scenes that demonstrate these values at work in Cumberland County. THE REPUBLIK,  an agency based out of Raleigh, created the video for the FACVB.

To date, the video has generated positive feedback from residents and the tourism industry and more than 50,000 views. “This is a video no other city can claim,” said Angie Malave, owner of The Wine Café.

Throughout National Travel & Tourism Week, the FACVB encouraged shares of the video using the hashtag #ThisSpecialPlace.  “We have also gathered positive stories of service and sacrifice from within Cumberland County,” says Meroski.  “These stories will be shared widely as the campaign evolves.”
