Brand USA Concluded 2020 Mexico Sales Mission with Great Success

The event generated more than 510 business meetings and had the participation of tour- operators, travel agents, key opinion leaders and media representatives in both Mexico City and Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Brand USA, the destination marketing organization for the United States, held with success its second Mexico Sales Mission,  from January 13 to 17. The four-day itinerary covered Mexico City and Guadalajara, Jalisco, and included B2B meetings between delegates and tour operators, trainings with travel agents, and a presentation of 2020 top travel experiences for media and key opinion leaders,  which allowed each representative to promote their experiences and highlights, as well as develop meaningful relationships and collaboration opportunities for both countries.

“We are thrilled to receive these 14 partners of the United States and encourage these meetings with key people from media and the tourism industry in our country. This represents a great opportunity to present the great diversity of experiences that each of these amazing destinations offer, together with a cultural, culinary, natural and entertainment richness that entices so many travelers”, said Lourdes Berho, Regional Director of Brand USA in Mexico.

During the mission, Brand USA presented “Into America’s Wild,” its new film for IMAX® and giant screen theatres, which is scheduled to premiere this February in Washington, D.C. Produced by MacGillivray Freeman and Brand USA, along with presenting sponsors Expedia and United Airlines, the documentary explores the great outdoors of the United States following trailblazers John Herrington—the first Native American astronaut in space—and Alaskan bush pilot and youth advocate, Ariel Tweto.

During the sessions with tour operators in both cities, Juan Carlos Ruiz, Commercial Tourism Specialist, Commercial Service of the United States Embassy in Mexico, invited those present to participate in IPW, the most important tourism fair in the United States. On behalf of the Consulate General of the United States of America in Guadalajara, Robin Matthewman, Consul General, and Becky Marquez, Consular Officer, spoke about the process to apply for a tourist visa. The event was also attended by Nicole DeSilvis, Commercial Counselor, Commercial Service of the United States Embassy in Mexico.

Berho added: “Mexico is a priority market for the United States. According to the National Travel and Tourism Office, 18.5 million Mexicans visited the United States in 2018. Brand USA 2020 Mexico Sales Mission is the first of many more activities to come in our country to continue to inspire more travelers and promote this amazing destination.”
