All aboard - The Tempe Streetcar is now open!

Tempe is one of the region's highest public transit ridership centers, and on May 20th, Tempe Streetcar added another efficient transportation option to Downtown Tempe. Connecting riders to neighborhoods, major business centers and regional events and destinations, the new streetcar makes 14 stops along a three-mile route on Mill and Ash Avenues from Rio Salado Parkway and Marina Heights to Dorsey Lane and Apache Boulevard. The streetcar travels as a single car and can hold up to 125 people. Each vehicle is wheelchair accessible, and bicycles are welcome on board. The first year of service is free and operates seven days a week, and arrives at stops every 15-20 minutes.

Sip and Shop all Summer Long with Hotel Valley Ho's New Summer Market Series

Hotel Valley Ho is introducing the new Sip + Shop Summer Market Series for 2022. Presented by WorldClass, the events will be held on select Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM. The series will feature local chefs, purveyors, and some of the hotel's favorite wines and spirits. The events are free to attend, and each guest will receive a wristband for six tastings of wine, beer, and spirits. The hotel will also provide a 20% off voucher to use at ZuZu within 30 days. Hotel guests and locals alike can enjoy live music as well as food by top local chefs and take-and-make cocktails with recipes available for purchase. Each event is themed, including  Viva Italia on August 20, and Bourbon + Big Reds on September 17. All ages are welcome.

Tucson's Don Guerra of Barrio Bread Receives a James Beard Award

On June 13th, Tucson's Don Guerra was recognized as Outstanding Baker by the James Beard Foundation. Owner of Barrio Bread and partner to Barrio Charro and The Monica, Don's devotion to culinary innovation and creativity plays a significant role in the storytelling of Tucson's cultural heritage. Tucson is proud to celebrate the first local recipient of a prestigious James Beard Award since El Guero Canelo's Daniel Contreras was recognized in the category of American Classics in 2018. Caesars Sportsbook at Chase Field Now Open with Guy Fieri's DTPHX Kitchen + Bar

In partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Caesars Sportsbook at Chase Field is officially open. The two-story, 22,300-square-foot entertainment destination is located adjacent to Chase Field in Downtown Phoenix and is now the largest freestanding sportsbook in Arizona and the largest retail sportsbook to open in partnership with a major sports stadium nationwide. This new, first-class sportsbook and full-service restaurant combo are unlike any opened to date. The venue features a total of nine betting windows and 13 self-service betting kiosks as well as wall-to-wall flatscreen televisions, breathtaking patio space, table, and plush lounge-style seating on both floors with a total capacity of more than 425. Private space is also available to rent. The opening of Guy Fieri's DTPHX Kitchen + Bar at Caesars Sportsbook marks the celebrity chef's first-ever full-service restaurant in Arizona. Designed in partnership with Fieri and led locally by Executive Chef Kayla Laasko, who brings experience from The Barking Bodega, Desert Diamond Casino, and the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa, Guy Fieri's DTPHX Kitchen + Bar offers scratch-made food, signature and classic cocktails, and an extensive beer and wine menu. The Wine Collective of Scottsdale Showcases the Arizona Wine Trail

Opened in late April of 2022, The Wine Collective of Scottsdale is proud to represent the unrepresented on the wine trail as Old Town Scottsdale's only one-stop-shop for Arizona wines. Zoya Vora-Shah, founder of Wine Collective and wine connoisseur, has made it her mission to bring the spirit and character of the Willcox, Sonoita, and Verde Valley wine regions to a central location in the heart of Scottsdale. The Wine Collective features a Napa-style tasting room with over 40 local Arizona wine varietals to pair with curated local chocolates, cheeses, and artisan meats. Vora-Shah has big plans for the future, with monthly events and a wine club on the horizon.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Opens New Eighth Concourse at Terminal 4

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport's Eighth Concourse at Terminal 4 opened to the public on June 20, 2022. The new, state-of-the-art eight gate concourse is solely occupied by Southwest Airlines. The 275,000 square foot space features a variety of customer amenities, including access to charging stations in every seat, an Animal Relief Area, Family Restroom, Nursing Room, and hearing loop connectivity which will allow those with hearing devices to connect to the PA system. The new concourse, which is applying for LEED Silver Certification, also has a number of sustainable elements. Restaurants and shops will open in phases through 2022 and 2023. Food and beverage kiosks, as well as retail kiosks, will be available to customers until the shops and restaurants are fully completed.

Arizona State Parks and Trails Launches New Reservation System

Arizona State Parks and Trails is updating its reservation system to support the needs of nearly three million visitors annually. The new system will be in place by July 25, 2022 and all existing reservations will be automatically transferred. Updated features will include the ability to modify or cancel existing reservations online as well as select additional site amenities when making a reservation. Additionally, visitors will be able to make reservations at multiple parks in one transaction. The system will continue to be optimized with new features and tools to meet the diverse needs of Arizona state parks and the growing number of visitors. In addition to the new reservation system, Arizona State Parks is also updating its cancellation and modification policies, reducing its reservation fees, and including refundable cleaning deposits for cabin stays. All new reservations will now be available starting at 8 AM, rather than midnight, to facilitate easier access to reservations a year in advance.
